Excitement is running high for Jatoba's return engagement to the Rockingham Meeting House on October 7! Their show last year - a benefit for victims of Tropical Storm Irene - left audience and musicians alike jaw-dropped at the coolness of Jatoba's 'groove grass' in the context of this incredible historic building.
Jatoba has quickly become a Northeast-touring favorite with their eclectic mix of acoustic instrumentation and their explosive live show performances. Incorporating a unique blend of three extraordinary acoustic musicians - John Jamison on mandolin and guitar and Jeff Richardson on stand up bass and spoons; Jatoba redefines their sound through collective songwriting, composition and extreme rhythmic/melodic improvisations. It is not at all uncommon to witness these three musicians spontaneously break into a beat-box driven groove with soaring funky melodic phrasing. JATOBA displays a very eclectic arrangement of their musical influences and their instrumental prowess.
Doors for the show open at 1:30, with showtime at 2:00 pm. The Rockingham Meeting House is located on Meeting House Road, just off Rte. 103, a half-mile west of Interstate 91 Exit 6. Free parking is available. Vermont Festivals, LLC in association with Flying Under Radar, Barnaby's Presents and Kicking & Screaming are presenting this final 2012 all-acoustic "Summer Sunday Social" concert at the 200-year old Rockingham (VT) Meeting House.
Tickets are $18 in advance and are available at Village Square Booksellers and Fat Franks in Bellows Falls, Turn it Up! in Brattleboro, Misty Valley Books in Chester, as well as online at brattleborotix.com. Best-in-house 'Angel' seating is $25 and allows purchasers priority entry to choose their desired seats. For more information, call 802.463.9595.
